From April 9 – 12, 2013, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA), together with Scandinavian and Baltic partners, organizes an intensive programme on Intercultural Communication, which is one of Nordplus network Ekoteknord activities.
From March 4 to 6 twelve teachers from Tallinn, Estonia and Lanciano, Italy gathered in Valmiera to exchange their personal experiences and discuss various issues related to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. This international exchange happened in the “Comenius” project framework. By the end of the whole project, teachers from all three countries will have visited all three countries at least twice. This was the 2nd time when these teachers met in Valmiera.
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is now taking applications for the new international study module for the academic year 2013/14. Students have shown interest in the new module.
This year the university has taken great care to select inspiring and captivating courses for exchange students. The brand new International study module addresses the dynamics of the contemporary world.
During the summer months, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences hosts two international student interns to work on developing different film projects. This is the first time for the university to accept students for work placements in the Erasmus exchange programme.
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences organisers of the 12th Baltic International Summer School invite the families from Valmiera and surrounding areas to allow foreign students from the summer school into their families for one evening on July 31.

On Thursday, March 29 Ambassador of Israel to Latvia Hagit Ben-Yaakov visited Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. The Ambassador gave a lecture, opened a photo exhibition „Save a Child’s Heart” and had a meeting with the Rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences Vija Daukšte.
On December 9, 2011, in an official ceremony Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) received the quality award of EU Lifelong Learning Programme „Spārni 2011” in the nomination „Erasmus Intensive Programme 2007 – 2009”.
ViA participated in this year’s competition with Erasmus Intensive Programme implemented in 2010 „Environment Awareness. Communication. Interpretation”.
The annual research conference of ATLAS – the prestigious international tourism and education association – opens today at the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. The conference assembles participants from 29 countries. This type of conference is organized in Latvia for the first time.
XVII International Competition of Young pianists in Valmiera (LATVIA) will be held on January 25, 2012 at Valmiera Culture Centre, Str. Rīgas 10.
