56 students from 14 countries will participate in the Baltic International Summer School

Baltic International Summer School will take place from 3rd August to August 17 in Valmiera.

Three students from Valmiera receive Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarships

On January 30 three students of Valmiera State Gymnasium – Kārlis Krastiņš, Paula Indra Žuga and Kristīne Rubene – were granted Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarships. During the ceremony, Head of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Latvia office, Mr Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes emphasized that the Stiftung begun cooperation with the Valmiera State Gymnasium in 2004 by awarding scholarships to outstanding students who continuously challenge themselves to acquire new skills.

Students start their studies in a newly built Valmiera Music School

 Valmiera Music School, which is celebrating its 93rd anniversary this year, on November 4 opened its doors for the students in the newly built building at the picturesque river bank of Gauja.

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is the first university in Latvia to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences joined the Eco-University programme a year and a half ago with FEE Latvia’s full support. It is a great start to making the Eco-Schools programme much broader – now from kindergarten to university! It means that every child has the option to choose an “eco-friendly” education system at every stage of their lives. Consequently it brings more “green” everyday action all over Latvia.

After years of persistent work, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences finally received the prestigious award as an appreciation of their efforts.

Another Successful Baltic International Summer School Completed

This August, the 15th Baltic International Summer School (BISS) hosted by Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) came to a successful end. This year’s summer school consisted of two parallel programmes: Erasmus IP “Glocalizing Development: Development Perspectives of Rural Regions and Small Towns in Globalized World” and “International Tourism and Event Management” (ITEM).

Dr.hist. Gatis Krūmiņš elected as the new rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

Dr.hist.Gatis Krūmiņš has replaced Dr.hist. Vija Daukšte as the new rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. As it already was the 2nd term of Ms Daukšte in the rector’s post, she couldn’t apply for the post one more time.

Dr.hist. Gatis Krūmiņš previously has been a member of the Council of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, chairmen of Young Scientists Association and took part in the higher education accreditation group as an expert.

Intensive Programme on Intercultural Communication Taking Place in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

From April 9 – 12, 2013, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA), together with Scandinavian and Baltic partners, organizes an intensive programme on Intercultural Communication, which is one of Nordplus network Ekoteknord activities.

Pre-school teachers from three countries meet in Valmiera

From March 4 to 6 twelve teachers from Tallinn, Estonia and Lanciano, Italy gathered in Valmiera to exchange their personal experiences and discuss various issues related to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. This international exchange happened in the “Comenius” project framework. By the end of the whole project, teachers from all three countries will have visited all three countries at least twice. This was the 2nd time when these teachers met in Valmiera.
